Projects
The projects presented here illustrate how occursus works: market-oriented, structured and grounded in dialogue. Each project follows the occursus© model and has been implemented with the ambition to solve real problems, enable robust decisions and create sustainable impact. Regardless of size or context, all projects are united by a clear stance, a consistent focus on implementation, and the conviction that strong solutions emerge through dialogue.
The Datahub Vorarlberg is a joint development project by occursus, estuar and weavs, commissioned by Vorarlberg Tourismus GmbH. Its aim is to establish a long-term structure for data-based decision-making in tourism. The project is being implemented as part of a one-year, AWS-funded programme and will run until spring 2026. During this period, a practice-oriented development and learning environment will be created, in which new applications are co-developed, tested and reflected upon together with partners from the field. At the same time, structures, roles and competencies are being built to embed data-driven working practices sustainably within organisations. occursus contributes in particular the perspective of strategy, decision-making processes and organisational embedding.
Through the activation of the data:room in Hall Two of the Kammgarnfabrik Hard, occursus demonstrates how existing spaces with history can be transformed into places for dialogue and future-oriented thinking. Instead of new construction, the focus is on the sustainable use of existing structures – in line with the principles of the circular economy. The project represents the implementation strength of occursus, from concept and set-up through to independent, economically viable operation. It shows that impact is not created by new buildings, but by strong hosting, clear attitude and meaningful use of space.
In August 2024, occursus was commissioned by Lech Zürs Tourismus GmbH and the Municipality of Lech to advance the development of a clearly structured and professionally managed business unit for the Lechwelten event centre, including its operational and strategic direction.
At the data:room, the two core services of occursus – Business Events and data-based decision-making – are deliberately and consistently brought together. The space was created specifically to make these two consulting priorities not only conceptual, but tangible and effective in practice. Here, concepts are co-developed with clients, decision-making processes are prepared and structured, new formats are tested, and experiences are reflected upon and further refined. The data:room is therefore not a showroom, but a working space: a place where theory is translated into concrete application and where new knowledge for consultancy emerges from practice.
LandStadt Vorarlberg is not a closed project, but an ongoing space for thought and dialogue. It explores how the Rhine Valley as a living environment can be reimagined beyond municipal boundaries: as a shared realm of possibility between city and countryside, between independence and cooperation. Together with the two co-initiators, Gerhard Stübe from Festspielhaus Bregenz and Edgar Eller from sentum, we work to make potentials visible, open up new perspectives, and strengthen dialogue between stakeholders from politics, public administration, culture and civil society.
occursus has been commissioned by the management of Insel Mainau GmbH to evaluate the island’s MICE business (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events). The objective is to develop strategic recommendations for the economic operation of this business sector, which is expected to play a key role in enhancing seasonal value creation in the future.
Together with Edgar Eller from Sentum, occursus has been commissioned by the owner of the Hof Reutenen estate to transform the lakeside property near Wasserburg on Lake Constance into a place for meaningful encounters in the Four-Country Region Bodensee and to promote genuine entrepreneurship. The vision is to create a venue for events and exchanges with a strong focus on the circular economy.
The Vorarlberg Tourism Navigator was commissioned by Vorarlberg Tourismus GmbH to systematically enable the transition towards data-based decision-making in Vorarlberg’s tourism sector. The aim is to provide decision-makers with a tool that presents data in a clear and accessible way, offers orientation, and supports strategic decisions on a sound basis.
occursus was responsible for project management and acted as the central interface between Vorarlberg Tourismus, external contractors, and key stakeholders across the entire tourism ecosystem.
As one of the first regional brands in the Alpine area, Vorarlberg, under the leadership of WISTO Vorarlberg, has set itself the goal of creating the most opportunity-rich living environment for children by 2035. As part of this vision, the establishment of a brand experience space in Dornbirn is being considered. This space is intended to serve as a central hub and meeting point for the Vorarlberg brand.
WISTO has commissioned occursus to evaluate the potential benefits such a space could offer to key institutions and organisations in the region, as well as to develop concrete concepts for its utilisation.
The micelab:bodensee platform, launched by BodenseeMeeting in 2016, researches, teaches and conveys how meetings can generate an impact through the art of hosting.
On behalf of the Tourism and Leisure Industry Division of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce, occursus was invited to contribute to the redesign of Tourism Week.
As part of this process, various stakeholders were invited to a workshop at the Festspielhaus Bregenz. The goal was to position Tourism Week as a platform that fosters a shared and engaging knowledge transfer, combining networking, professional development, and joyful celebrations. Through active participation, the diversity of tourism in Vorarlberg is to be made visible and directly linked to the Tourism Strategy 2030.
At the heart of the initiative was the creation of meaningful encounters within the industry and the strengthening of mutual appreciation.
