When cultural workers were suddenly deprived of the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience during the Covid pandemic Bodensee-Vorarlberg Tourismus established the Vorarlberg Nature- and Culturepicnic under the direction of Urs Treuthardt. These formats offered cultural workers the opportunity for open-air performances at special locations in the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley, combined with visits to places steeped in history. In 2021, the Vorarlberg nature picnics, an additional format for teaching nature in the winter months, were introduced. In 2020 Bodensee-Vorarlberg Tourismus received an award for tourism innovations.
